This is Peggy, a fully automated freestanding pellet burner that has been designed with the inglenook fireplace in mind.  This stove has a built-in self-feeding hopper and is thermostatically controlled.  You can even have a Wifi version so that you can tell your fire to light when you are away from home, so that your room is warm and welcoming on your arrival.  The stove itself can be used on 5 different thermostatic settings, ensuring your room is at the perfect temperature for you.

 

Another added benefit of pellet stoves is that the bags of fuel are much less bulky than traditional logs and as the hopper feeds the stove when fuel is called for, you are not up and down re-loading.  Whilst the 'romance' of chucking in another log isn't quite the same with a pellet stove, the cost to run pellet stoves against a traditional wood-burner has been proven to be far superior.

Above: Bio-ethanol fires are having a surge of interest.  This type of appliance needs little installation and with a few simple rules, you can have fit a new real flame fire in your home within just a few minutes!  

 

No flue is required for this type of fire, however, there are lots of decorative flue pipe options to give the appearance of a traditional flue pipe.  Heat outputs can be upwards from 3kW and a stove fan sited on top of most models will operate well, helping to distribute the heat into the room.  We have the above stove on live display in the showroom and the average run time seems to work out around 5 hours for a full tank (approx 1.5 litres).  And of course, the main characteristic of what makes these appliances so environmentally friendly, is that bio-ethanol is green energy derived from the fermentation process of crops which when ignited produces an impressive flame with very little CO₂ emissions.

 

However, there are some important things to consider before jumping headlong into buying a bio-ethanol fire!  The size of your room is quite important as most 3kW models will need a typically sized room of approximately 60 cubic meters (for example: 5m x 5m x 2.4m) with a natural flow of air or fitted with an external air-vent.  Combustible materials such as curtains, soft furnishings etc, should be a minimum of 1m away from the stove in all directions.  So if that all falls into place for you, then bio-ethanol could be the perfect choice for your home.
